As I sat down to write this introduction to our Summer issue of Faddy Magazine USA, I found myself thinking about the images that haunt us forever the images that arrive like lightning and divide our lives into before and after.
A truly great photograph is never merely a photograph.
It is an event.
It is a seduction.
It is a revolution of the imagination.
Long before I understood fashion, I understood enchantment. I was a little girl intoxicated by fairy tales, old Hollywood glamour, music, beauty, fantasy, and the exquisite possibility of transformation. I believed that somewhere beyond the ordinary world there existed another realm a world of elegance, mystery, and magnificence.
Then one day, it appeared.
Two books.
Two portals.
The photographs of Helmut Newton.
I can still remember the shock of it.
Those women were not posing.
They were reigning.
They were creatures of confidence and mystery. They occupied space with authority. They possessed glamour of the rarest kind the glamour that comes not from beauty alone, but from imagination, intellect, daring, and self-possession.
At that moment, I understood a truth that has followed me my entire life:
The most beautiful women are not beautiful because of what they wear.
They are beautiful because of the worlds they create around themselves.
That revelation became the foundation of everything that followed.
New York City called to me.
Design called to me.
Creation called to me.
For more than two decades, I built bridal gowns for extraordinary women. I obsessed over every line, every proportion, every fitting, every detail. Twenty-seven measurements. Endless muslins. Relentless standards.
Perfection was not the goal.
Transcendence was.
Because a bride is never simply wearing a dress.
She is stepping into her own legend.
Yet fashion, like life, is always asking us to reinvent ourselves.
And so another chapter began.
Not one of retreat but of expansion.
I wanted to return to the image.
To the story.
To the dream.
I wanted to collaborate with artists whose work could still stop time.
Artists who understand that glamour is not decoration.
Glamour is emotion.
Glamour is atmosphere.
Glamour is culture.
Glamour is power.
And that is precisely what you will find in these pages.
